When a baby is breeched, this means that they are not resting with their head facing downward. This commonly happens throughout a pregnancy, but the baby should eventually settle facing downward as delivery becomes closer. If the baby does not turn, a C-section may be necessary. After 30 weeks, you can begin trying a few things to turn the baby if it is breeched. For example, using exercise can be helpful. One of the best exercises is to elevate your hips 9 to 12 inches above your head. This can be completed three times each day for about ten to fifteen minutes at a time.

A knee to chest exercise is also helpful. With this exercise, you will rest your forearms on the ground and push your buttocks in the air. Hold this position for between 5 and 15 minutes a couple of times per day. This can help encourage the baby to somersault into the right position.

Spending time in the pool is also a great way to encourage your baby to turn. While in the pool, make sure that you are doing flips, swimming and completing crouches. This is another great way to encourage the baby to turn on its own.
