Endometriosis is a condition where the uterine lining that’s supposed to be on the inside of the uterus is actually going on the outside of your uterus. Now those tissues that are going on the outside of your uterus will become trapped inside your body because they’ve got nowhere to go and then eventually they’ll become irritated and they can even form abnormal tissue that’s going to attach to another organ in your body so it’s definitely not a condition you’re going to want to mess around with. There are definitely some symptoms to be aware of, and the first most common one would be pelvic pain. Now this pelvic pain is going to be different than menstrual cramps. It’s a lot different and much more tense and as your condition worsens the pain is going to get worse as well.
Other symptoms to look for are excessive bleeding and infertility, so if you’ve been trying to get pregnant for a while and it’s not happening and you’ve experienced some of the other symptoms, that’s definitely a red flag for you to give your doctor a call and get check out for endometriosis because they’re definitely are treatment options out there for you.
So as far as treatment goes the first one would be pain medication, because if you’re experiencing horrible pelvic pain and you don’t have to, you know you’re definitely going to start a pain medication routine.
There are also some hormonal therapies that you can try, including birth control so that might not be an option for everyone if you’re trying to get pregnant but there are other hormonal options out there as well, and then also surgery.
So when you have the diagnosis of endometriosis, you’ll talk with your doctor depending on if you do want to get pregnant, or if you don’t want to get pregnant anytime soon and you guys will find the right treatment options for you.
So thank you very much for watching and again if you think you might be experiencing endometriosis please give your OBGYN a call and get checked out. Until next time, thanks for watching. Bye!
