Fertile Periods to Get Pregnant

Fertile Periods to Get Pregnant

A woman’s most fertile periods to get pregnant are the days around ovulation, that is, the 4 or 5 days before the mature egg is released by the follicle and the day after it. However, the female body is very sensitive, its hormonal balance being influenced by numerous external and emotional factors, which also means that fertile days differ not only from one woman to the other, but also from one period of a woman to the other; but there are several very efficient ways to calculate when you stand the highest chances to conceive. Counting the days

One way of predicting fertile periods is to count the days from the first day of your period and the first day of the next period. If you do this for about 3 months, you will be able to notice a menstrual pattern and to predict your ovulation phase by calculating which will be the 14th day of your next cycle. However, this method does not work if your cycles are very irregular, in which case you can use one of the following methods.

Using ovulation prediction tests

Ovulation tests are available in most pharmacies, and they are very accurate tools that must be used in a way similar to pregnancy tests. The period right before ovulation is characterized by a surge of the luteinizing hormone in the body; these tests measure the concentration of this hormone in the urine.

Tracking your BBT

Another method frequently used for predicting fertile periods to get pregnant is by measuring your temperature in the morning at exactly the same time each day. You will have to note down your temperature in a chart for a few months, and, after a while, you will see a thermal pattern in the chart. Fertile periods are followed by a slight rise in body temperature, so your most fertile period will be the one right before this rise.

Examine your cervical mucus

The period prior to ovulation is characterized by a more slippery cervical mucus as the body is preparing favorable circumstances for the egg to meet the sperm. Before ovulation, the mucus is slippery and stretchy, while during the period after ovulation it becomes thicker, then drier.

As you see, knowing your body is essential for predicting fertile periods. Choose any of the above methods and you will not only become able to calculate the days when your chances to get pregnant are the highest, but you will also learn a lot about yourself and about the way your body works.
