You will feel lethargic and very tired because of morning sickness. Thankfully though, there are ways in which you could prevent it all together. Yes, you don’t have to endure extreme nausea and vomiting just because you are pregnant. Here are a few ways in which you could curb morning sickness and feel much better.

Stay relaxed and calm

Remember that taking too much stress will make your problem worse. This holds true for both physical stress and mental stress. You have to be very careful about yourself and make sure you don’t stress yourself too much. If you can, take some time off work and sleep as much as you want.

Get your spouse to help you with your household chores so that the responsibility does not weaken you. If you can find time, rest during the afternoons for at least half an hour. Relax as much as you can and do things that will help you calm down. Don’t exert yourself too much. It will make matters worse for you.

Be mindful of food aversions

You will have food aversions during your pregnancy. The simplest thing to do would be to keep your distance from foods that make you nauseous. Eat other healthy foods to compensate but keep away from smells and foods that make matters worse for you.

You might feel nauseous because of the aroma of coffee, natural body odor, colognes, perfumes, garbage smell, meat, and even foods that are cooked in too much oil. If you are unlucky, you will feel queasy around all types of food but mostly this won’t happen. You will hate the presence of only a few foods and you will feel perfectly okay with consuming other foods.

Eat smaller meals

Instead of eating too much and not eating at all, eat smaller meals. Yes, nausea can make you want to starve yourself but you should never do that for two reasons. One, nausea will be intensified if you don’t eat anything because the acids will begin to digest the lining of your stomach and two, your baby will suffer from lack of nutrition if you don’t eat.

Remember that it is not about you anymore. You should ensure your baby gets the nourishment required to develop properly. Thus, you should eat smaller and healthy meals throughout the day. Your diet should be perfectly balanced with protein and complex carbohydrates among other nutrients.

Distract yourself

Do things that will keep your mind off the nausea and vomiting sensation. Effective distractions include getting together with your friends or reading an engaging book. If you engage yourself in something else, it will help you forget your problem and calm down.

Remember that clinically, there is actually no method to prevent morning sickness. However, if you follow these steps, you will find a significant improvement. These are indeed worth a shot.

Take your mind off the sickness

As impossible as this may seem, getting your mind off your stomach and onto something else is one of the best ways to at least forget about the pain, if not get rid of it. This means occupying your time with thought-provoking or entertaining books, staying mentally involved at work, visiting friends and family or employing other morning sickness distractions.
