Here are 4 of the most known conditions that can cause infertility in men:

Aspermia

Aspermia is caused by retrograde ejaculation, and its main characteristic is the complete absence of the spermatozoa from the seminal liquid. Retrograde ejaculation appears as a result of legal or illegal drugs abuse or due to a surgical intervention on the prostate. Another factor that can favor the appearance of aspermia is the obstruction of the ejaculatory duct. This can be easily corrected through surgery, if it is detected on time.

Azoospermia

Azoospermia appears when the number of spermatozoa present in a milliliter of seminal liquid is very low. Among the factors that lead to this condition, the most frequently met are the low levels of certain hormones, such as FSH.

Chemotherapy can have a negative influence on the quantity and quality of the seminal material, triggering the apparition of azoospermia. Testicle injuries can also cause this type of infertility problems, for men who practice contact sports the protection of their genital area being vital. However, azoospermia and its effects can be easily treated, on the condition that all the doctor’s recommendations be properly followed.

Hypospermia

Hypospermia means that only a small quantity of seminal liquid is ejaculated. The low level of fructose is a major cause of this affection, along with a lowered level of the semen’s pH. In order to correctly diagnose and treat hypospermia, a whole set of medical tests are performed, considering that an insufficient amount of fructose can also disguise affections of the prostate.

Oligospermia

Oligospermia also known as low sperm count, is the most frequently met form of infertility in men, but also the easiest to cure. Its causes are both of mechanical and of organic nature. Prolonged sessions of cycling and horse riding, excessive hot baths and saunas and wearing tight underwear are only some of the external factors that favor the apparition of oligospermia.

Among the internal causes of this condition, prostatitis, varicocele, and the obstruction of either the vas deferens or the ejaculatory duct are the most frequently met. The success of the treatment for oligospermia depends on various factors, but many invasive and non-invasive options are available and they all have a high rate of success.
