After receiving a TON of flack for being pretty much absent for the entire duration of Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy, it was a little bit odd to hear the news that he would, in fact, be attending her baby shower. Khloe Kardashian Odom revealed on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show last week that while the majority of the shower was going to be for girls only, that Kanye was going to be making an appearance at the end. Khloe said that Kanye didn’t want to be the only guy, so Kim and Khloe’s brother Rob, Khloe’s husband Lamar Odom, and sister Kourtney’s husband Scott Disick were also going to be in attendance as well.
The shower itself was held on Sunday, June 2nd, the same day that the new season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” aired on E! During the episode, it was revealed during a trip to the OB’s office, that Kim and Kanye are having a GIRL!
Yes, it’s finally out of the bag, and leave it to Kim to announce it on her reality show! Sunday was a big day for Kimmy K! Her baby shower was held at family friend Shelli Azoff’s home, and it was a lavish affair! Kim and her sisters were dressed as “garden goddesses” in white flowing gowns and flower headbands.
Everything was white, from the furniture, to the tents to the flowers. While Kim and Kanye didn’t want gifts, they donated anything they received to a local children’s hospital.
The outdoor celebration was attended by over 100 guests, and most of them were super big names! Some of the close friends at the party? Nicole Richie, Maria Menunos, Kelly Osborne, Brittany Gastineau, NeNe Leaks, Tracy Anderson, Kim Stewart, Mel B (Melanie Brown), and many more special guests!
Invitations were sent out in lavish jewelry boxes with a twirling ballerina inside, and they played a lullaby version of Kanye’s song “Hey Mama”. That was everyone’s clue that the baby was a girl, even though it wasn’t announced publicly until everyone saw the show!
While he’s not seen in the public eye as a “sweet” or “romantic” guy, and he DID try to sneak into his own baby’s shower with a hoodie over his head, Kanye proved he really is a thoughtful guy. Although Kim asked for no gifts at the shower, Kanye presented her with a book that her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr, used to read to her when she was a girl.
The sweet gesture brought Kim to tears, and proved that Kanye’s not just a tough guy. Oh yeah, and he threw in a Hermes diaper bag for Kim to carry their daughter’s stuff in too, just for good measure! Kimmy K only has a month to go before her baby girl is born, and looks like she has plenty of friends and family to help her make it through that last month!
