The Duchess Of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, just made her last public appearance before the arrival of her baby in July. When it comes to the royal baby, the announcement will be all old school pomp and circumstance. A birth “declaration” will be quickly printed out after the royal baby’s birth, signed by the medical staff at Saint Mary’s Hospital, and then transported with a police escort to Buckingham Palace. From there, the birth declaration will be quickly framed and then placed in a very special spot.
The framed birth declaration will be placed on a wood and gold easel just beyond the gates of Buckingham Palace for all the public to see. The last time this special easel was used? Thirty one years ago (on June 21, 1982), the easel was used to to announce William’s birth! The whole idea that the easel was last used to announce Prince William’s birth, and is now being used for HIS child, is a really big deal.
A Palace rep reveals that there will be a high tech electronic announcement released, but it won’t be until AFTER the special easel reveal:
“Although an electronic release will go out, we want there to be a degree of theater about the birth announcement,” a Palace rep tells Us Weekly. “This is the birth of the third in line to the throne so it is very important. It is an extremely important occasion”.
We know that the world will be watching for that easel reveal, and it is sure to be the exciting one! On the easel birth declaration will be the baby’s gender (Will and Kate SWEAR that they don’t know yet either!), weight, length, and time of birth. However, the new baby’s name will be revealed at a later time. So, why do we have to wait for the name?
“While it is a deeply personal and private event, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge realize this is a time of national celebration and that there will be vast interest in the baby,” a royal aide tells Us Weekly. “They realize many people will want to share in their happiness”.
Prince William and Kate will be staying at Saint Mary’s Hospital for her delivery, which is rare, since most royal babies are born at the Palace. The baby will be delivered by Royal Household official Surgeon-gynecologist Dr. Alan Farthing and Dr. Marcus Setchell, the Queen’s Surgeon-Gynecologist.
Prince William, who is stationed in Anglesey, Wales as a Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Helicopter pilot, is going to try his best to get back in time for the birth. However, if Will is unable to be there, Kate’s mom and sister Pippa are going to be at the hospital with her. Sounds like the couple have got everything planned out, and now all we have to do is wait for the royal baby!
