A hospital bag is a bag that aspiring parents take with them to the hospital during delivery.
– Birth plan and maternity clothes
If you have a specific birth plan, it is important to take that with you so the doctor knows what you want during your delivery. Additionally, you won’t know how long your labor will take or your stay will be, so it’s important to pack enough maternity clothes.
– Toiletries
Prepare for a longer stay and make sure to bring your toiletries with you to the hospital. Also make sure to bring towels, hairbrush and tissue napkins. Also bring your baby’s toiletries such as baby shampoo, baby soap, etc. Although most hospitals have this available for you, it’s still different when you have your own.
– Baby clothes
Make sure your baby has enough clothes to wear during your stay at the hospital. Your baby also needs towels, mittens, and washcloths.
– Snacks and drinks
You or your partner will need this before and after delivery. Make sure you have something available to munch.
– Digital Camera
Most of us want to document our labor and delivery, so make sure that the camera is not left at home.
First-time parents, no matter how many books they read and parenting seminars they attend, most of them can still get shocked when their water finally breaks.
-Relax
When you feel that your water just broke, do not panic. Or even if you’re already in pain, do not panic. Panicking doesn’t help in whatever stage you are during labor and delivery. Prepare yourself, be ready for real labor that’s coming, and take things easy. Be excited ‘coz you’re going to see your child real soon.
-Prepare to go to the hospital
Ready yourself for a drive to the hospital anytime soon. Water breaking is one of the many signs of labor so if you are not having real contractions yet, you should feel that no longer than 24 hrs.
-You can take a bath
If your water already broke and you want to take a bath, it is fine. You can still take a shower but to avoid any infections from coming it, don’t have sex once your water has broken.
Finally, after months of carrying your belly in your tummy, from the first positive pregnancy test to today, you are soon going to see your child. Water breaking is just one of the signs of labor. Before that happens, make sure everything is all set and good to go, especially when it comes to the things that you need during your stay in the hospital.
