Okay, so for boys, the top five most popular boy names are:

1. Jacob

2. Mason

3. William

4. Jaden

5. Noah

The top five girl names are:

1. Sophia

2. Isabella

3. Emma

4. Olivia

5. Ava

All those are so cute. So the funny thing about that is two of the names on this list are names that both my husband and I love, like Sophia is a name that we love and Jaden is also a name we love. Now, I’m having a girl and we decided to name her Adriana and that’s not on the list but, yeah, it’s just funny to me how names trend. I mean these names are definitely popular, and I know a lot of people naming their child Mason. I know a lot of people with the name Ava, and it’s just kind of funny to me how that works, how random years certain names are trending that other names aren’t trending.

I think my biggest thing is when it comes to naming your child you definitely want to do what fits you. What’s the best for you. And whether that name is super popular or rather, no one’s ever heard of it, I would just say do whatever is best for you.

The funny thing for me is I majored in Elementary Education and so I taught kids. And a lot of times, there are certain names that you might end up liking and then when you have kids in your classroom, let’s just say that are maybe a little challenging, it makes you change your mind about that name a little bit. And that’s actually happened to me where I liked the name and then I might have had a little girl, a little guy that’s just was a little rambunctious and I was like, I don’t know if I still want to name my child like that anymore. But, yeah, so I just think it’s really interesting to see what names are trending.

I have heard a lot of Jadens and I kind of wonder what influence is that to like. Is it the fact that Will Smith named one of his kids Jaden, you know. Does that have anything to do with that name being popular or Emma Watson, I don’t know. Does that have anything to do with the fact that Emma’s a popular name now. I don’t know.

But those are the top five girl and boy names and top five boy names and top five girl names and I would just say when you name your child, do what you want to do and do what’s best for you and don’t listen to everyone who tells you “Oh, you’ll name your kid that?” or “Oh you should spell it like this, you should do this.” Because ultimately you’re the one who’s going to call your kid that. And if you like it, then that’s awesome!
