An Unlikely Trio

Clomid, Preseed, and Robitussin. These three might sound like an unlikely trio when it comes to getting pregnant, but these three things can actually add up to the perfect storm when it comes to conception. Read on for more info on how they can all work together in harmony. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Clomid

You probably already know by now, Clomid is the most popular fertility drug in the United States. It is incredibly effective at stimulating ovulation in women who cannot otherwise ovulate due to various fertility problems.

In fact, Clomid can stimulate ovulation in up to 80 percent of women who take it, and up to 40 percent of those women will become pregnant. Clomid is extremely effective and usually well tolerated by the women who take it. Clomid is usually given for 5 days in a row, at 50 mg, during the first few days of a woman’s cycle. It can be taken for up to six cycles, and if it has not worked to stimulate ovulation by then, other methods are usually used after that.

Preseed

One small problem with Clomid. It can create hostile cervical mucus, which can prevent sperm from reaching the egg successfully. Many women who take Clomid report problems with their cervical mucus. This creates a conundrum. The medicine to help stimulate ovulation and get pregnant can actually damage cervical mucus.

This is where Preseed comes in. Preseed is a fertility friendly and sperm friendly lubricant that will not damage sperm, like other over the counter lubricants can sometimes do. Preseed can help to make up for the lack of cervical mucus that comes along with Clomid, and using the two together can be a great idea for women who are trying to conceive.

Robitussin

Though it might sound crazy, regular old Robitussin can be helpful for fertility when you are taking Clomid. This is because when taking Clomid, you already know that it can decrease the amount and quality of your cervical mucus, making it harder for you to get pregnant.

However, Robitussin (or any cough syrup with Guafensien as its active ingredient) can actually have a positive effect on cervical mucus. Just like it loosens and thins other mucus in the body to help with coughs and colds, Robitussin can actually thin the cervical mucus as well, and can increase cervical mucus production.

Most doctors suggest taking Robitussin five days before and including the day of ovulation for a total of 6 days during your cycle. This helps provide the optimal environment to help the sperm survive and get to where they need to go.If you take Clomid, waiting until the day after the last Clomid pill is taken before starting Robitussin is suggested.
