Ways to Calculate Your Ovulation

Ways to Calculate Your Ovulation

When you are trying to get pregnant, the single most important thing that you can do is to know when you ovulate. There are only a few limited number of days (hours really) where a woman can physically get pregnant every month. Claim Your 20 Free Ovulation Tests – Click Here

If you don’t know what those days are, it is highly unlikely that you are going to get pregnant very easily. Therefore, calculating your ovulation time is a very important part of trying to conceive. Keep reading for more info.

The Basics

First of all, you have to understand how the body works. Ovulation is the time where the egg is released and ready to be fertilized. Most women are on a cycle of around 28 days or so, but this varies greatly from woman to woman. Therefore, it is not advisable to simply count 28 days to find out when you are ovulating.

To accurately track your ovulation, you will need to start marking the days of your period on a calendar. Once you have done this for a few months, you will be able to really see a pattern. After you get a few dates marked on your calendar, you can count the days between one period to the next. This will give you an idea of how long your cycle is.

Ovulation Day And Fertile Days

Once you know how long your cycles are, figuring out when you ovulate should be fairly simple. Most women ovulate 14 days before the start of your period. Using your other dates you have marked on your calendar, try to predict the date your next period should start. Then, count backwards 14 days from that date. That will be your ovulation day.

Once you know your ovulation day, you can plan for your most fertile days. Since the sperm can live much longer than the egg (five days for sperm compared to around 24 hours for egg), it is a good idea to have sex on the days leading up to your ovulation day so that the sperm can be waiting when the egg is released.

Many doctors recommend trying to have sex three days or so before ovulation. Some couples choose to have sex every day during ovulation week, including the day of ovulation, but that is your personal preference.

Other Tools

There are many other tools out there that can help you to track your ovulation. There are a plethora of smartphone apps and online software that you can use, just plug in your period date and the apps can do the rest. You can also buy over the counter ovulation predictor kit tests that will tell you for sure when ovulation is on it’s way.

Some women simply pay attention to their cervical mucus and look for the stringy, egg white consistency to know that ovulation is near. Whatever option you choose, make sure that you find a way to figure out your ovulation day. It is one of the most important parts of trying to conceive.
